Summary
Practice Description
Dr. Hua is affirming of all identities, recognizing the importance of acknowledging our full humanity and all of its intersections. As a 1.5 generation Chinese American woman, she holds particular insight into the experiences of immigrants and the kinds of expectations that are common for many in the Asian American diaspora. Dr. Hua has applied this insight in her work as a therapist, working with individuals as they build upon inner strengths and efforts to heal. She integrates a culturally responsive approach to find balance between your inner self and addressing the impacts of oppressive systems.
Dr. Hua works with adults experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, life transitions, grief, depression, insomnia, and trauma. One of her specialties is working with adults adjusting to recent cognitive changes (e.g., COVID brain fog, mild cognitive impairment) and family members of loved ones with a progressive neurological disorder (e.g., dementia). She primarily draws techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including CBT for insomnia and for trauma, as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
