Summary
Practice Description
I am currently a Tenure-Track Counselor Faculty and Internship Training Coordinator at San Jose State University's Counseling & Psychological Services where I specialize in working with BIPOC, especially Asian American, international/immigrant populations, cultivating culturally sensitive clinical training, and conducting research. I also have a side private practice I conduct online. I fundamentally believe that each person has lived their life to the best of their ability, however, over time has developed ways to cope that no longer feel effective or feel unhealthy due to various life experiences and cultural backgrounds. You may find yourself struggling although you have tried hard to take care of yourself. Therapy can be helpful to provide space to understand what happened to you, practice healing, and develop healthier lifestyles. I use a warm and collaborative approach to work with my clients and help them cultivate who they want to be. I primarily work with young adults/adults from all backgrounds/identities on concerns such as the following: various types of anxiety, depression, family and interpersonal concerns, identity development and minority stress/trauma, academic/career concerns, perfectionism, social skills development, spirituality/Christianity, immigration/migration related issues and more. I also conduct therapy in Korean.
