Summary
Practice Description
As a first-generation immigrant, I was raised in a culture where caring for one’s mental health and wellness was stigmatized and/or seen as a sign of weakness. This significant disparity between caring for one’s physical health vs mental health triggered by curiosity and inspired me to pursue my education in the field of psychology and behavioral sciences. As a licensed clinical psychologist, I obtained by doctorate in clinical psychology from the California school for professional psychology and have practiced in varied settings. During my clinical training, I primarily provided individual therapy and early intervention services to adults. I consider my self a culturally humble and informed practitioner. Please view my LinkedIn profile for more details regarding my educational and professional experiences.
As a community practitioner, I am an advocate for prevention and early intervention and being able to spread awareness, pay attention, reflect and learn about one’s behaviors informs my work. A key component of my practice is identifying and building on personal and communal connections, cultivating resilience and fostering self-compassion.
In my spare time I enjoy listening to music with a cup of hot filter kaapi ( Indian Carnatic music), trying out foods from different countries and spending time with my family.
