Summary
Practice Description
I work with minoritized adolescents and adults who consider themselves to live outside of various binaries, including but not exclusive to: LGBQIA+ folks, gender diverse folks, multi-racial people of color / BIPOC folks (with a special focus on Asian heritage), creatives & artists, and neurodiverse folks. The majority of my clients are queer trans people of color, and about a third of my clients identify as autistic or neurodivergent. My clients tend to experience various barriers to being themselves, from external messages about normative ways of existing to internalized beliefs from systems influenced by white supremacy. As such, they tend to be skilled at shape-shifting or code-switching. They come to therapy with a desire to express alignment with their true selves, and to put down the heavy mask they have come to wear out of safety.
While identity exploration / navigation may be central to the work for some of my clients, it is one part of the therapy for others. I also work with folks around attachment and relationship concerns, grief and loss, anxiety management, and life transitions such as entering or exiting college, becoming new parents, and switching careers or locations. Ultimately, my clients and I work together to create a space where they can feel genuinely connected to themselves and others. This opens up opportunities for them to feel empowered and hold self-compassion.
